Service areas on the water
Vic and Amy Petrenko serve waterfront buyers and sellers across the Lake Norman and Charlotte regions: from the southern shore towns of Mooresville, Cornelius, Davidson and Huntersville, to the far northern coves of Denver, Troutman and Sherrills Ford, and the Charlotte region's own Mountain Island Lake.
Each area below gets its own guide: what the town is known for, its waterfront character, nearby communities and neighborhoods, commute notes and a direct line to the advisors who work the shore weekly.
№ 01 The southern shore of Lake Norman
Waterfront Real Estate in Mooresville
Mooresville is the largest town on Lake Norman's shoreline and the address of The Petrenko Group's own office at 138 Village View Lane, which tells you how central this market is to our work. Across the region it is best known as Race City USA for the concentration of NASCAR teams and racing businesses based here, and to waterfront buyers as the town with the lake's largest and most varied inventory of luxury shoreline.

№ 02 The eastern shore of Lake Norman
Waterfront Real Estate in Cornelius
Cornelius is the lakeside town that most visitors to Lake Norman see first: roughly seventy miles of shoreline in Mecklenburg County, a walkable Old Town, and a waterfront culture of marinas, parks and restaurants that has made it the unofficial hub for getting out on the water. It sits about twenty miles north of Uptown Charlotte on the eastern shore, the lake's closest town to the I-77 corridor.

№ 03 The eastern shore of Lake Norman
Waterfront Real Estate in Davidson
Davidson is the lake town with a college at its center: Davidson College, founded in 1837, sits a step from a historic downtown of brick sidewalks, preserved storefronts and a genuine village green, all within sight of Lake Norman. About twenty miles north of Charlotte, it pairs small-town character with one of the region's most engaged communities.

№ 04 The gateway between Charlotte and Lake Norman
Waterfront Real Estate in Huntersville
Huntersville is the gateway town between Uptown Charlotte and Lake Norman, roughly twelve miles and about twenty minutes north of the city center along I-77. It grew from agricultural and mill-town roots into one of the region's most complete suburbs, anchored by Birkdale Village, the open-air mixed-use center of shops, restaurants, offices and residences that set the standard for walkable suburban life in Mecklenburg County.

№ 05 The Charlotte region, with a lake inside the city limits
Waterfront Real Estate in Charlotte
Charlotte is the largest city in North Carolina and the financial center of the Southeast, home to Bank of America's corporate headquarters, Wells Fargo's East Coast headquarters and Duke Energy, the utility that happens to own the water on all three of the region's lakes. Its Uptown core anchors the metro, and its waterfront lives both inside and just beyond the city limits.

№ 06 The western shore of Lake Norman
Waterfront Real Estate in Denver
Denver is the west side of Lake Norman, the Lincoln County shore along NC 16 where the lake's character turns noticeably quieter and the lots noticeably larger. Sometimes called the Denver of the East, the community grew up around the lake's western coves and now pairs that unhurried pace with some of the fastest growth in the region.

№ 07 The quieter northern coves of Lake Norman
Waterfront Real Estate in Troutman
Troutman is where Lake Norman gets quiet. The small Iredell County town, founded around a railroad camp in the 1800s, sits on the lake's northeast side and is best known for Lake Norman State Park and the protected, low-key coves around it.

№ 08 The northwestern shore of Lake Norman
Waterfront Real Estate in Sherrills Ford
Sherrills Ford is the far side of Lake Norman, an unincorporated Catawba County community along NC 150 on the lake's northwestern shore, named for the ford where the first European settlers crossed the Catawba River in 1747, a crossing that now lies under the lake. It is the quietest chapter of the region's waterfront story: large wooded lots, deep coves and a pace that has nothing to do with the south-end scene.

Seven of the eight sit on Lake Norman, from its southern marinas to its far northern coves. Charlotte anchors the region with Mountain Island Lake inside its city limits and the other two reservoirs a short commute away.
Compare the three lakesLake Norman shore towns
Mooresville, Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, Denver, Troutman and Sherrills Ford sit across the lake's 520 miles of shoreline, each with its own commute, tone and waterfront inventory.
The Charlotte region
Mountain Island Lake is the only one of the three Catawba reservoirs inside Charlotte's city limits, and the metro frames the commute for every shoreline on the list.
One rulebook
Every dock on these lakes sits on Duke Energy land below the full-pond line, so the permit history, the depth at the dock and the 50-foot buffer matter equally in all eight towns.
